“Walking Is A Privilege”

Here’s a great video from my friend Cheryl Bogart that I thought I’d share.

Truer than most people would ever imagine.

glad you enjoyed the video, doug! she rocks.

Great Vid Cheryl, awsume too see you bringing awareness to more clueless people out there, thanks for posting it Tiff.

cheryl rocks the casbah hardcore. i luv strong ladies who tell it like it is!

i get what she’s trying to say - obviously, but i think the video said nothing. she just seemed angry and i’m not sure … if i was the poor pirate i would have given her that look too. she kept saying there were other means to cure sci, but didn’t say what. yelling at people and telling them walking is a privilage won’t help. people in the video seemed to think she was crazy- did you see super woman’s face? weird.

Well, she certainly is making a statement.
The tone is very “in your face”, but I can understand why in some places. Other moments were bizarre. Pirate? Superwoman? It felt staged and I didn’t know if that moment was supposed to be funny. It wasn’t clear.

I’d like to see more from her.
One thing. The “walking” focus of this bothers me because I think it oversimplifies what higher level folks struggle with.
But, there’s only so much that can be said in 3 minutes.
I look forward to her documentary.

i like in your face stuff. sometimes its the only way to get the message across to the masses.

Well, cable news stations certainly implement that technique. That’s the main reason why I avoid them. I hope she doesn’t maintain that agression 100% of the time.
Whenever I see someone agressive or yelling it never comes across (to me) as intelligent. That “in your face” can turn a lot of people off. People who might otherwise agree with her.
And it sounds like she has great ideas.

Hmm. I think I’m with M on this one. It’s obvious that she’s got spunk, and that’s cool if this kind of a trailer, but I’d like to see a more detailed, more cohesive version of her message - sans pirate. I imagine the doc. will do that.

Of course, it seems to me that the core SCI research, itself, is not very cohesive and, possibly, over-focused on stem cells. I don’t have the answers, either, and all options are valid until proven otherwise, but I’d like to see more discussion (and funding) of the options being considered. I think that’s her point in the end, right?

Tiff thanks for posting. For all that commented thank you aslo. The truth is that is just typically the way I am. I am a very “in your face person”. I in no way staged anything or meant to come across angry or rude.It was all natural and all just my attitude. This is a serious condition and I believe that if you dont yell and scream you will get nowhere. But of course yelling and screaming more professionally.
